Serene Watercolor Painting You Can Download

I’ve always loved how watercolor can capture a feeling—soft, fleeting, a little imperfect in the best way. Recently I've moved from dabbling with making watercolor cards, to recognize special moments, and other one off practice (almost meditative pieces) to my first piece I'm putting up for sale!

It started as a beautiful fall afternoon in my backyard as I experimented with slightly overlapping fluid layers of blue. I enjoyed sips of wine as I waited for each layer to dry. It turned into something I just had to share. The final result feels like undulating, abstract washes of blues that feel like water, perhaps waves lapping at the shore.

I decided to make it available as a high-resolution digital download in my very first Etsy shop! That means you can instantly bring it into your own space—print it and frame it for your office, or smaller as part of a cozy gallery wall. I created 8x10 and 5x7 sizes as part of the download - hoping printing and framing could be a breeze. The files also include one formatted for a phone background and another that could be used as a laptop or presentation background. I love that digital art gives you that freedom to make it yours.
You could also use the download to make gifts. I could see the file used to print a journal cover or as art to create unique notecards with the recipients name printed on it, 'Thank You' or just left blank. You could even email the recipient the phone background and desktop background files for them to enjoy as a digital "extra" with the printed piece!
Each layer in this painting reminds me to slow down and appreciate the small, beautiful pauses in a day. My hope is that when you download it, it brings that same sense of serene calm to you.

You can find it now in my Etsy shop—just follow this link (https://recreatewithnathan.etsy.com). Thank you for supporting handmade art and helping me keep creating from my little corner of the world.
